FAQs

FAQs

  • Is a pool service worth it?

Bayou Pools saves you time and money, making pool maintenance hassle-free. Maintaining a pool can be tedious work. Unless you enjoy the science behind pool care or are managing costs, having a professional pool service is often a smart choice. Your time is more valuable than the cost of service, allowing for quality time with family, less stress, fewer headaches, and more fun.

  • Why is it important that my pool water’s chemistry is correct?

A well-balanced pool is crucial for the safety of swimmers and extends the life of your equipment and pool finish.

  • Is price the most important factor when considering a pool service company?

Not necessarily. While price is a consideration, experience and quality matter more. Often, lower-priced services come from less experienced providers entering the industry who may lack proper knowledge, which can result in costly mistakes in pool maintenance.

  • My pool is cloudy; how can I make it clear again?

Cloudy water can result from multiple factors. Check that the pool’s pH is within the proper range, clean the filters, and backwash if using a sand filter. Cloudiness is often caused by small debris suspended in the water. For quicker results, you can add a pool clarifier, which makes debris clump together for easier filtration and vacuuming.

  • How much water does my pool hold?

Knowing the capacity of your pool is essential for proper maintenance. Use a free online calculator to determine the gallons it holds.

  • Are there extra costs that aren’t covered in the weekly service?

Our services cover all basic maintenance in our packages. Additional charges may apply for (1) filter cleaning every 4.5–6 months, (2) cleanup from major storms, (3) extra chemicals beyond maintenance doses, and (4) specialty chemicals for specific issues. We’ll provide a written estimate for approval before performing any services outside your chosen weekly cleaning package.

  • How long should I wait to get in my pool after a water treatment?

It’s best to wait a few hours, following the chemical manufacturer’s recommendations.

  • How often do I need to test my pool chemistry?

Weekly testing is the best practice to maintain a clean and sanitized pool.

  • What is the correct range for chemicals in my pool?

    • pH: 7.2-7.6
    • Total Alkalinity: 120-150 ppm
    • Calcium Hardness: 200-250 ppm (Gunite); 175-225 ppm (Vinyl)
    • Free Chlorine: 1-3 ppm
    • Free Bromine: 3-5 ppm
    • Copper: 0 ppm

These levels ensure a safe, balanced, and comfortable swimming environment.
